Summary
Born on 28th September 1999, Marios Siabanis is a distinguished professional footballer from Greece. Primarily a goalkeeper, Siabanis was earlier associated with Aris, a prominent club in the Super League. As of his recent transfer, he now plays for Volos FC. Siabanis stands at a height of 1.88m and predominantly uses his right foot.
Siabanis embarked on his football career with Pavlos Melas' youth team. In 2013, he caught the attention of PAOK and soon became a part of their ranks. Displaying exceptional skill, he was offered a professional contract at the tender age of 16 in 2015. Despite this early start, Siabanis found limited opportunities to play with PAOK’s senior team, having made just two appearances. Seeking broader horizons, he signed with Olympiacos, PAOK's fierce rival, in 2019. As part of a four-year contract, Siabanis was subsequently loaned to Nottingham Forest in the English Championship. However, he did not make any on-field appearances for the English side.
In October 2020, after parting ways with Olympiacos, Siabanis joined the ranks of Aris. His time there saw him become an integral component of the squad. By the end of his tenure with Aris, he had made 21 appearances, with 6 of those coming from the 2022/23 season where he clocked in 540 minutes of playtime. Following this, he made his transition to Volos FC.
Internationally, Siabanis etched his name in memories during a match against Russia U19 on 14th November 2017. He successfully converted a penalty kick, levelling the scoreline and propelling Greece into the Elite Round.
While with PAOK, Siabanis celebrated a Super League title victory in the 2018-19 season. Moreover, he was a part of the triumphant squad that secured the Greek Cup in the 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 seasons.
On the field, Siabanis boasts impressive technical skills including passing, penalty taking, and tackling. Coupled with these are his commendable mental attributes like leadership, decision-making, and concentration. His agility, balance, and natural fitness make him a notable physical presence in the goal. While there's always scope for betterment, Siabanis' latent potential is seen as a significant asset that might shape his future outings. Additionally, his track record of maintaining good health and being relatively injury-free further accentuates his worth as a professional footballer.
